Resistance comes from fear, and we don’t fear the object or the idea; we fear the consequence of being exposed to that object or idea. We fear the consequence of engaging with it. We fear the consequence of accepting it. In other words, whenever we resist, we resist the undesired future, and we resist the potential threat that is waiting for us there. By eliminating the threat, we eliminate the resistance, but in order to do that we must first clearly identify the threat.
